video not working in 1.9.4 on Ubuntu 10.04

I have video working fine on XP (running in a virtualbox on Ubuntu), but have tried unsuccesfully to get it working in the Linux version on Ubuntu. I have phonon installed and the box checked in settings. Is there anything else which needs to be installed to make it work? I can get sound from .mov files but no video, but other files such as .mp4 do not run at all. Is there anything I already have installed that could be clashing with phonon perhaps? I can't see that others are having this problem from the forums, but have been trying to get it working for hours so any help or ideas would be appreciated. Works great for standard songs and Impress files.

Thanks,

Stephen

Hi Stephen,

Video works well using gstreamer and not xine. Please check your System Settings, Multimedia, Phonon, Backend to see what you are using.

Hi Stephen,

Also make sure that you have gstreamer-plugins-good, gstreamer-plugins-bad and gstreamer-plugins-ugly installed.

Thanks, that did the trick. Would it be helpful for the phonon gstreamer backend to be installed automatically with OpenLP?
